Peter Marti was Full Professor of Structural Engineering at ETH Zurich from October 1990 to July 2014.
He obtained his diploma in civil engineering from ETH Zurich in 1973 and his doctorate in 1980 with a dissertation on the application of the theory of plasticity to structural concrete. From 1982-1987 he was associate professor of structural engineering at the University of Toronto where his research focused on the behaviour of reinforced and prestressed concrete plate and shell structures. From 1987-1990 Peter Marti was executive vice-president of VSL International AG and chief technical officer of the VSL Group, a leading specialist construction company in the field of prestressing with operations in 37 countries.
Dr Marti was responsible for courses in structural analysis, structural concrete and structural design.
His research concentrated on structural concrete and masonry.
