The main asset of the "Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics Group" is its ability to conduct high quality experimental, numerical and analytical investigations on the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete structures. The needed equipment, international connections and extensive experience in this domain are available.

Strategy and Future Priorities in Teaching and Research

The main priority of the new "Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics Group" is to gain international relevance. Group activities in the near future will focus on the seismic behavior of structures with emphasis on the assessment of existing structures and the development of new, more performing, ones. Basic strategy of the group is to gain insight into phenomena from different perspectives through structural testing. For this reason the group was instrumental in the improvement of the testing capabilities of the IBK by designing and building the new modular reaction wall.
